Black Ice Review

Title: Black Ice
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick
Release Date: Oct 7th 2014
Genre: Thriller with a dash of Romance
Rating: 7/10

This book was Becca Fitzpatrick’s latest book after the Hush Hush Saga (which I highly recommend). It is about a girl named Britt and the whole story is written in her perspective except for the prologue. One day she goes with her best friend, Korbie, into the mountains to try and her impress her ex-boyfriend but soon things go astray. She is then trapped by two mysterious boys and she can’t decide if she can trust one of them.

I really recommend it if you like Lux, Hush Hush or Fallen.

I love Becca Fitzpatrick’s writing style so I was so glad to find out that Black Ice was coming out!! I love the start where Britt is going to 7-11 and Mason comes along and acts like her boyfriend.

Korbie was so annoying, but I’m guessing that was how she was meant to be portrayed. I hated the part where she was psychotic and forced Britt to stay with Calvin. I wanted to tear my hair out.

The whole Calvin plot twist would of been a surprised halfway through the book but then it was kind of obvious towards the end so it wasn’t much of a surprise. I was surprised about Lauren being Mason’s sister and that he was seeking revenge. The ending was a cute but slightly cheesy fairytale ending. It was great fun!

I also liked that part where Britt said that Korbie had type-one diabetes- that was really smart. A lot of the tricks Britt used to survive and escape from Calvin and Sean were really intellegent.

The character development of Mason and Britt was quite good. I love their relationship it was kind of similar to Patch and Nora’s. It really reminded me of the Hush Hush Saga and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I liked how Becca Fitzpatrick kept it as a stand alone.
